Alan Campbell MP with Shoreland Staff at Grand Opening |
The academy is the brain child of Shoreland Access’
Directors, who were keen to build on the back of Shoreland’s success in the NDT
inspection industry.
Founded in 2012, Shoreland has experienced considerable
growth in a short space of time. Directors Neil Cox along with father and son
team, Ken and Jack Miles, felt there was a gap in the market in the North East
for a new NDT training centre.
Director Neil Cox said at its opening ‘Newcastle and the
North East are home to several large companies in the Engineering, Chemical and
Energy sectors. We also have a large contingent of offshore workers based in
the area. Shoreland has the potential to fill a gap for NDT training needs for
companies and technicians alike.’
Training Classroom at Shoreland NDT Academy |
The purpose built training facility, recently opened by local MP Alan Campbell, boasts two classrooms, two practical areas, exam room and breakout area. With excellent transport links to Newcastle Central Station and Airport, the centre has the potential to attract students from further afield.
Labour MP Alan Campbell when opening the facility said, ‘I want to congratulate Shoreland Access on
bringing this facility to our area. It's a state of the art facility and will
be part of an important group of companies playing a key role in the Offshore
Sector’
The new BINDT approved training organisation is now offering
two PCN accredited training courses per week. These range from conventional NDT
techniques such as Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle and Ultrasonic Inspection
to the more complex Eddy Current and Phased Array. For more information on courses available,
